The
London Classic Motor Show, or "Classic Cars Live" as it
was named in 2004, was held at Alexandra Palace on the weekend of 20-21
March.
No
other event in the classic car calendar showcases such an exciting
variety of fine old cars in one of London's most elegant locations. Classic
Cars magazine brought together some of the best old cars in the UK
including the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 as featured in Goldfinger in
1964. A number of cars from the wonderful collections at Beaulieu,
Haynes
and Cars of the
Stars were main attractions and of course owners' clubs from all
over Britain displayed some of their finest vehicles. The show was
described as "Britain's Finest Display of Classic Cars".
In
addition to the stunning displays of classic cars, there were a large
selection of Trade stands and a hall dedicated to Autojumble and
Automobilia.
The
Fiat Motor Club (GB) had a stand at the show as usual and this year's
display was described as minimalist by our chairman. The theme was very
obvious as "131" with just two 131 Mirafioris on
display. Simon Ryle's 1600CL Automatic and Theo Kyriacou's (yours
truly) Sport have quite a different character and both attracted a lot
of attention from a lot people. The 131 Sport also caught the
attention of the Classic
Cars magazine judges who awarded it the prize of "Highly
Commended" in the Club Cars Saloon Car class.
