Visit
to Whitewebbs Museum of Transport
Sunday
19th June 2005
Earlier
in the year some Club members visited
the
Whitewebbs Museum of Transport. The visit was arranged by Robin Palmer
and we were entertained by the President of The Enfield and District
Veteran Vehicle Trust, Mr Stanley Chamberlain. Stanley gave a very
interesting talk about the history of the Museum and a guided tour. We
were very impressed by the Museum and all it had to offer, so much so
that we have organised a Fiat Motor Club (GB) National Event to be based
at the Museum on the 19th of June 2005.
The Museum is
housed in and around the former Whitewebbs Pumping
Station and contains many cars, motorcycles and items of memorabilia.
It is run by The Enfield and District Veteran Vehicle Trust.
The Museum has three floors and the ground level is occupied by cars,
trucks and fire engines. The first floor houses a selection of classic
motor bikes and the top level has bicycles, motor related toys and
memorabilia. There was something to interest everyone and this Fiat National event
was a great l family venue. There's even a Victorian
railway station at the back of the museum complete with an old dining coach. This was apparently a real station in Enfield and when it was
decided to modernise it the complete old station was moved to the back
of Whitewebbs.
Below are some photographs of the event. Click on any of the small
photos to view them larger size and enter the event's web-gallery. |
