The
Hampshire Pageant of Motoring
38
members and their families attended the Pageant. This was the first time
the Club had participated in this event.
For
some years previously we supported the car show at Knebworth House, but
a combination of marshals trained at the Herman Goering school of
marshalling and stands that were so far away from the action that we
wondered if they thought Fiat was Italian for lepers, caused us to look
for somewhere else to go so we gave Knebworth up.
For
several years we spent our August Bank Holiday at the Woking Car Show
but then they had a change of management who decided they only wanted
proper classic cars, a category in which they didn’t think our cars
belong, so they gave us up.
All
this left us with nowhere to go. We then got an invite from the
Hampshire Pageant so we decided to give it a go, sent out a lot of
invites and got 19 cars over the 2 days. Cars came from London,
Bedfordshire, Kent, Essex, Surrey and Buckinghamshire as well as the
locals, all of which gave us a magnificent display. The weather was
superb the setting wonderful and I can only say that we had a good time.
